George S. Petroka, CIH, CSP

George Petroka is currently a Principal at IES. He has 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical/ petroleum and chemical industries in the management of environmental and occupational safety and health programs at Sanofi Pharmaceuticals, Sterling Winthrop, Sun Refining and Marketing and Firestone Chemicals. He holds a B.A. in biology and a B.S. in safety management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an M.S. in environmental engineering from Drexel University. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional and a Legionella Water Safety Specialist. He has experience in R&D, bulk and finishing pharmaceutical processes and in controlling exposure to chemical (potent pharmaceutical compounds), biological and radiological hazards. George is a member of the Containment Community of Practice Steering Committee. In his present position he is responsible for directing occupational safety and health and environmental consulting services to client companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, health and process industries.
