ISPE Collaborates with the University of St. Gallen for a New Training Course

ISPE in partnership with the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen (ITEM–HSG), in St. Gallen, Switzerland, will unite expertise to offer ISPE operational training courses on 8 – 9 May at the ITEM–HSG.

“We are thrilled to provide our members with another European learning base,” said John Bournas, ISPE CEO and President. “Our partnership with the Institute of Technology Management University of St. Gallen further supports our education goals by creating a course for our members that leverages an industry vested benchmarking approach.”

Two days of topic-specific, in-depth learning is designed to provide participants with a clear understanding of how to measure operational excellence, including insights on relevant qualitative enablers, as well as meaningful quantitative performance indicators. The course also illustrates a common language to explain operations management and introduces lean concepts. Additional content includes developing tools and techniques to help identify solutions for specific problems in manufacturing and compliance.

The instructors for the course include: Professor Thomas Friedli, PhD, who shares his expertise in Operational Excellence in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Collaboration Management, Management of Industrial Services, and Quality and Process Management; and Jim McKiernan, CEO of McKiernan Associates, who specializes in life sciences manufacturing and supply chains.

Training sessions include lectures, group exercises, and case studies that provide participants with practical information that can be applied immediately to their job. The courses are suited for development, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and validation professionals. Attendees should have intermediate level experience in development, manufacturing, engineering, validation, quality, or technology transfer, and a desire to understand and implement the concepts of operational excellence.
