Supply Chain Challenges: API and Component Sourcing
The world is adjusting to the global challenges faced during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Pharmaceutical companies are continuing to work hard to develop new medicines and manufacturers are facing an increased need for sterile manufacturing capabilities. This demand has strained the supply chain and evolved to reduce dependence on raw materials and finished products from a single market. As a result, several countries are implementing new processes to onshore API production to secure their supply chains. The Executive Order signed on September 12, 2022 by the President launching a National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative (NBBI) will include significant investment for active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and key starting materials in response to the current or a future pandemic. This program hosted by ISPE, NJ Chapter, will bring industry professionals together for food and drinks to learn more about this topic and how the local industry is responding to the supply chain demands.
