Sam Brooks studied Engineering Science at Oxford University. He joined the Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Manufacturer ICI as an Instrument Electrical Engineer. This role developed through real-time software development, engineering maintenance and leadership of a production monitoring systems team. When ICI split out its pharmaceutical division, Sam helped form the engineering consultancy Eutech, delivering consulting services in manufacturing business improvement and computer systems validation. In 2004 Sam joined Novartis as Head of IT Compliance for the OTC division in Europe, ultimately assuming role of Global Head of Information Governance and Management for both OTC and Animal Health divisions. This responsibility included assuring compliance with GxP, Data Privacy and Financial Controls regulations in IT systems and governance of information. In 2014 Sam left Novartis and established an independent consultancy specialising in information and systems governance, risk management and compliance in the life-sciences sector.
